About the Patrons Club
A glance at the WISPA World Rankings shows a superb group of nearly three hundred players from approaching fifty countries. They range from full time professional athletes to those who aspire to fulfill their potential while working or studying.
What they have in common is that they have had the opportunity to develop as squash players locally and then through the WISPA network of World Tour events. WISPA (the Women’s International Squash Players Association) is the worldwide body which manages women’s international squash and is managed from headquarters in London, UK, guided by a management board. It also liaises with the sport’s international federations, national associations, promoters, media and other interested parties.
WISPA not only administers the competitive pinnacle of women’s international sport though; it is also eager to supplement the efforts of centers, regions and nations in encouraging girls and women to try the sport, and then if they have the potential, to try themselves out on the international stage.
We want to be able to strengthen these links and thus to play a larger part in supporting educational programs using our role model players.
Developing squash is essential to our future, not only supporting nurturing the grass roots, but by actively taking members to new nations. In recent months WISPA events in Iran, Iceland, China, Pakistan, Portugal and Vietnam show the breadth of these efforts.
We must also explore every means we can to raise the profile of women’s international squash, develop interest in it, and thus grow the Tour. That in itself will encourage participation and growth of the sport. It will also assist us as we strive towards inclusion in the Olympics.
And at the top end we want to set a framework that enables more members to earn an income that allows them to have funds to enable them to focus on their development and be well enough funded to do so on a full time basis.
Their financial independence will encourage others too.
Our vision is straightforward:
More players, more nations, more media coverage……more squash success.
To help us invest in the future and achieve this vision we have started the WISPA Patrons Club. WISPA Patrons will, through their support and enthusiasm to see women’s squash grow, play a pivotal role in enabling us to achieve our ambitions. They will help us develop ‘green shoot’ support, marketing programs and general promotional initiatives. They will be our backbone as we move forward.
It is only with the support of WISPA Patrons Club members that we can kick-start and sustain this vision for the future.
Patrons Club membership fees will be channelled fully and directly into specific WISPA programs.
We plan to:
- Acknowledge your membership on our Patrons Club section of our website.
- Keep you up to date with how you are supporting WISPA via regular updates.
- Intend to arrange an annual opportunity to meet Patrons at a special Patrons function.
- Initiate a Patron-Link to offer advice and contacts where we can, for travelling members wanting to find opponents and WISPA event spectating.
WISPA Patrons Club membership would be welcomed from supporters who want to help us take girls & women’s squash forward by their generosity.
WISPA Trustees are being appointed to link with the WISPA Board to ensure that all WISPA Promoters Club funds will contribute directly and fully towards the efforts.
