WISPA HAILS IRISH WOMEN'S OPEN

The Women's International Squash Players' Association (WISPA) has welcomed a new event to its World Tour calendar for 2003.

The Irish Women's Open will take place at the Fitzwilliam Club in Dublin from 1st - 6th April, boasting a prize fund of $20,000.

The Fitzwilliam Club Squash Chairman Hugh Fitzsimons is delighted at the prospect of welcoming the world's top women players to Ireland: "All of us at Fitzwilliam LTC and Irish Squash look forward to bringing this event to Dublin next year as we feel it will give women's squash in Ireland a much-needed boost. I do hope the players give it their full support and I can assure them of plenty of "Irish hospitality" should they make the trip!"

WISPA Director Andrew Shelley was equally upbeat about the news: "It is nice to restart the tradition of championships in Ireland. The last time WISPA was there was in 1991 and our members will surely relish competing in front of great Irish crowds in a great Irish city."
